On the afternoon of April 23, 2021, the second session of the International Conference on Childhood Studies 2021 "Education and Civilization" was successfully held at Hangzhou Urban Research Studies Center 109 of Cangqian Campus of Hangzhou Normal University. The opening session was started by professor Ping-chen Hsiung, the CIPSH Chair Professor of New Humanities and distinguished Professor of the School of Education in Hangzhou Normal University. It was presided over by Zhenyu Gao, associate professor of the School of Education with 40 experts and scholars from home and abroad participating.
Prof.Wei Yu from Northeast Normal University presented "Focus on Children's Learning, Make Learning Truly Happen:A Deep Description on the Process-based Inductive Teaching in Classrooms", with professor Shenghong Jin as moderator. Professor Yu introduced the theme in conjunction with free-spirited education and analyzed the topic " Intelligent Education" to give children the opportunity to express and release the instinctive creativity and nature of children, emphasizing the importance of the process Intelligent education. Inductive teaching focused on process inspires children’s positive learning from the practical aspect. Inductive teaching focused on process shows a good example for intelligent education. The detailed elaboration from the three dimensions of learning space, learning content perspective and learning method perspective has triggered our in-depth thinking on intelligent education and intelligent learning.

Prof. Shenghong Jin from Suzhou University of Science and Technology presented " What School-life Matters for Children in the Perspective of Enjoyment:A Phenomenological Interpretation on Children’s Enjoyment of the Educative Life in Schools" and raised the question of the subjective presence of children, with Prof. Wei Yu as moderator. In response to the problem of the phenomenon of learning, Professor Shenghong Jin proposed that learning should be a way rather than an end. He sought the spiritual image of children from an ontological point of view, and pedagogically re-conceptualized Levinas’ concept of "enjoy", trying to explore the subjective meaning of children as living and enjoying.

In response to the problem of the phenomenon of learning, Professor Jin Shengpi proposed that learning should be a way rather than an end. He sought the spiritual image of children from an ontological point of view, and pedagogically carried out Levinas’ concept of "enjoy" Re-conceptualized, trying to explore the subjective meaning of children as living and enjoying.
Prof. Chuankun Du from Shandong Normal University gave a lecture on " The Evolution of Childhood in Children's Adventure Stories ". The lecture was moderated by Prof. Zhigang Xiong. On the basis of studying dozens of children's adventure stories, Professor Du concluded that the overall adventure in the stories reveal a trend transformed from outside to inner life. Then he analyzed the changes in childhood concepts from five aspects: the reason for the adventure, the type of the adventure, the end of the adventure, the protagonist of the adventure and the aesthetic effect of the adventure to reflect on why adventure can become the theme. The lecture was summarized as "A Childhood That Was Not Grown Up in Love and Control", which triggered audiences’ thinking between liberating nature and discipline.

Prof. Zhigang Xiong from Journal of Early Childhood Education, Renmin University presented his research ideas on "Let Natural Aesthetic Education Lay the Foundation for Children's Subjective Consciousness of Lives ". The lecture was moderated by Prof. Chuankun Du. What role does aesthetic education play for children as the educational policy of the Chinese Communist Party? In response to this problem, Prof. Zhigang Xiong mentioned that natural aesthetic education is a vivid way to awaken the subject consciousness of children's life, and letting children get close to nature and love nature fundamentally is also an important way to promote children's moral education.

Prof. Xuehong Miao from Nantong University took "Imagination and the Construction of Children's Meaning World" as the topic to discuss that imagination is a kind of ability to show the whole activities of the mind through intentionality, the source of creativity and the embodiment of the nature of spiritual freedom. The lecture was moderated by Professor Zhenyu Gao. Proceeding from practical issues such as the suppression and disregard of children’s imagination, Professor Miao explained that imagination is a precious heritage of human evolution and that reverence for childhood is reverence for the evolutionary history of children. He proposed that imagination is a complex form of instinct, and that children’s imagination has realized the development of the spiritual world. This provided an ontological reference for future research on children.
Prof. Xuehong Miao
Associate Prof. Zhenyu Gao of Hangzhou Normal University gave a lecture on " The Reconstruction of the Philosophy of Childhood from the Perspective of Listening ", and Prof. Xuehong Miao moderated the lecture. He started from the fact that the visual culture was highlighted and the listening culture was neglected, and he proposed that the emphasis on imagery and visualization in educational practice needed to be transformed. He tries to reconstruct the future image for the philosophy of childhood, by reviving the listening tradition of Chinese philosophy and succeeding to the continual efforts of establishing listening philosophy in the West since early modern times. Professor Gao attempted to deconstruct the “visual metaphor” and demonstrated the necessities of turning to listening. Starting from the etymologically analyzing the concept of listening, he disclosed the complex meanings of listening and pointed out some effective approaches and strategies which broadened the research ideas for the future study of the relationship between children and philosophy.

Dr. Yao Luo from Hunan Normal University gave a lecture on "Reflection on the Changing Conceptions of Childhood in Post-Modernity". Professor Lili Sun moderated the lecture. From post-modern perspective, Dr. Yao Luo’s analyzed many new understandings about childhood. On the basis of affirming the positive role of postmodern culture on the field of childhood research, she also warns us to be alert to the danger brought by this. The process of postmodern discourse research on childhood is the coexistence of promise and danger. This reminds us that as childhood studies open up to postmodern discourse, so do the promises and dangers that we must confront.
Dr. Yao Luo
Associate Professor Sun Lili from Hangzhou Normal University discussed the importance of the study of mimesis with the topic of " The Natural Poetics: Education and Children’s Imitation to Learn " with professor Yao Luo as moderator. In response to the problem that mimesis is often regarded as a tool for learning and ignores the positive constructive implication of mimesis learning, Professor Sun Lili proposed that study of mimesis is the basic way of learning for natural humans and a poetic construction of human life experience, emphasizing the educational implication and enlightenment of the study of mimesis. She pointed out that mimesis is a creative behavior which provides unlimited possibilities for the richness and transcendence of children's cognition and behavior.
