2012年6月12日上午，经亨颐学院教育家大讲堂第十八讲在A-113顺利举行。此次，经亨颐学院荣幸邀请到加拿大卡尔加里大学教授W. Keith Nicholson为同学们开展题为“Several topics on linear algebra”的讲座。

讲座分为两部分进行。由于Prof. Nicholson编写的关于线性代数教材被加拿大各高校采用。首先，Prof. Nicholson 用生动的语言，向同学们介绍了编写教科书过程及教学经验方法。接着，他以具体生动的例子向我们介绍了高等代数在生物学中的应用。第二个环节，同学们根据自己平常在高等代数学习中存在的困惑向Prof. Nicholson提问。整个提问环节在轻松、愉快的氛围中度过。最后，在同学们的意犹未尽中，我们结束了此次讲座。

通过此次讲座，同学们对高等代数的学习和应用有了全新的理解和认识。希望同学们能够在学习高等代数的过程中勇于思考，取得佳绩！

Q：When we are doing our exercise, we may find that the problem is difficult to solve. How can we solve the problem by ourselves?

A: Firstly, you have to find the special case of that problem. Then according to the special one, you can generalize the general one. Finally, you will be able to find out what’s going on.
